Water jet technology
Water jet cutting uses water pressurized to 4,137 bar (60,000 PSI), combined with an abrasive, to cut material. The water jet in our machine park cuts far more precisely than conventional water jets: on its Dynamic cutting head, two separate A and B axis motors minimize jet deflection to produce the most accurate and smooth cut surface.
It is especially advantageous for expensive materials used in aviation, aerospace and medical sectors, such as carbon fiber, titanium and aluminum alloys. Because scrap is kept to a minimum, the material cost per part is low, which makes water jet cutting economical.
Advantages of water jet cutting
- We can cut virtually any material up to 150 mm thick, hard or soft, under CNC control.
- Cut edges come out clean and burr-free, with no need for additional grinding or finishing.
- Thin materials of 0.05–0.30 mm that cannot be laser cut, such as the stainless steel, copper, bronze and fiber used for shims, can be cut by water jet.
- Hard materials used in decoration, such as granite, marble, ceramics and glass, can only be CNC cut by water jet.
- It offers a major advantage when cutting thick stainless steel, aluminum, copper, polyethylene, cast nylon, titanium, fiber and Delrin.
- Corners can be cut with a radius or sharp, as required, and fine holes can be pierced in thick materials.
- As a cold cutting process, it causes none of the burning, distortion or hardening seen with plasma, laser and other thermal methods.
- Our 2000 × 4000 mm machine can also cut large plates.
- Special materials that cannot be cut by other methods, such as heat-treated, honeycomb and composite materials, can be cut by water jet.
- Material loss from the cut is minimal (about 1.50 mm).
